Hardcore legends Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye have teamed up for a new music project. The duo recently recorded four songs at Inner Ear Studios in Washington, D.C., the iconic studio where they first made landmark punk records decades ago. Joined by producer Don Zientara and guitarist Eddie Janney, the session marks Rollins’ return to music after nearly 20 years away, during which time he focused on other creative pursuits like writing, spoken word, and acting. MacKaye, meanwhile, has sporadically released music in various projects including The Evens and Coriky, since Fugazi went on an indefinite hiatus in 2003. While details about the project from the Black Flag and Minor Threat icons remain scarce, Rollins shared on his website that he had the new material “mastered several days ago, and I’m now working on the layout and design for the record,” while adding that, “When it’s ready, I’ll let you know. We are extremely excited by this one.” (Consequence of Sound)
