Machine Gun Kelly Credits “Pure Desperation” In Getting Bob Dylan To Narrate His Album Trailer

During an appearance on Today on Friday (June 20), Machine Gun Kelly confirmed that it was, in fact, Bob Dylan narrating his recent album announcement trailer for Lost Americana. “A magician never reveals his secrets,” MGK said about how the unlikely collaboration ultimately came together, before admitting that it was the result of “pure desperation. Just knocking on his door relentlessly, not going away.” MGK went on to praise Dylan and his involvement in the promotional video for his new album, which is due out August 8. “I have been blessed with… I don’t know, maybe it’s just one pioneer seeing something that I am doing that, in the long term, will be looked back [at] and be understood,” MGK said, before quickly clarifying: “Not calling myself a pioneer, but him.” Their improbable relationship developed from Dylan coming across an old video of MGK rapping, which led to an in-person meeting at the Hollywood Bowl stop on Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival in May.
