Bad news for Alice Cooper fans who had plans to join the shock rocker on the inaugural Ship of Fear: A Horror Cruise this fall. The spooky nautical event apparently was unable to scare up enough consumer interest and has been canceled.
The Ship of Fear cruise had been scheduled to run from October 28 through November 2, and was to have offered performances by Cooper and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider. In addition, the trip had been set to feature a variety of famous fright-flick actors and directors.
Among the stars from the film world who'd signed on for the journey were Gremlins director Joe Dante and lead actor Zach Galligan; Eddy "Chucky" Gale of the Child's Play movies; Kane Hodder, who's portrayed Jason in four of the Friday the 13th flicks; and Pet Sematary director Mary Lambert. Tom Holland, who directed Child's Play and Fright Night, was to have served as the cruise's host. The trip also was to have offered a wide range of activities, including movie screenings, celebrity Q&A sessions, meet-and-greets, memorabilia displays, themed parties and a special Halloween bash.
Organizers of the cruise are giving full refunds to anyone who already has purchased a cabin for the nixed event.
