E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, who was in Florida Tuesday for the funeral of sax player Clarence Clemons, has commented on his friend of 36 years, saying his passing was "monumental... This was a man whose message of love was real and got out there."
Southside Johnny, another Jersey Shore fixture, has also commented, saying, "Could anyone be more forceful and happy with his being a member of the E Street Band? I guess the lesson is to wring every drop of joy out of our brief time on earth and celebrate the gifts that he left us, and try to do the same for others. These are the moments that make me glad I make music."
Clemons died last Saturday in Florida, six days after suffering a massive stroke. He was 69.

Another part of The Beatles legacy will soon be honored in their hometown of Liverpool. A plaque for "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" and the young girl who helped inspire it, will soon be unveiled.
Examiner.com says that Lauren Voiers, who made the "Peace and Harmony" sculpture featured in last year's celebration of John Lennon's 70th birthday, has been commissioned to make the plaque. Voiers says she's including Lucy O'Donnell in the project. She was the grade-school classmate of Julian Lennon's whose name and artwork were incorporated by John in the title -- and lyrics.

Glen Campbell has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The diagnosis was made six months ago, but according to his wife Kim, he decided to go public now because he's planning some farewell concerts. She says, "Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer. But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn't want people to think, 'What's the matter with him? Is he drunk?'"
Glen adds, "I still love making music. And I still love performing for my fans. I'd like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin."
Glen will also release what will likely be his last studio album, Ghost on the Canvas, on August 30th.
