Damien Cook, head trainer for the  Blue Ash and Loveland BEAT personal training centers, tells us that they are getting close to the opening for Harpers Point BEAT  in the Shoppes at Harpers Point. They are opening soon and you can call for  a consultation starting today!

The Grand Opening will be May 24th from 9-2.  They  will have free chair massages, nutrition information and a raffle to win a free training package.  People can stop by for free food and meet the staff!  We will be there for the massage!

Here is a great tip from our trainer Matt about Americans and the way they view the most important meal of the day.

That is, they don't eat  it, "breakfast."  Its pretty typical that Americans tend to skip this very important meal.   We wake up to close to our time to leave for work, ... Read More »

WE are continuing to get great personal training from Matt at BEAT.  You can get the same great training at all the locations. www.beatpersonaltraining.com  Today I saw Dr.  Pat Baker and he said "fitness is a journey, not a destination."  Exercise is something you should do your whole life.  We will all get old, but how do we want to get old- do we want to be sick and unable to do things or do we want to remain active in our golden years.  I love that all kinds of people are at BEAT, a 70 year old woman who wants to start feeling better and live a longer life.  a woman with a life-threatening condition they told her she couldn't cure, but she is defying the odds and BEAT is helping her to achieve a better quality of life through exercise.  There are also people who have lost 80 to 100 pounds or more and atheltes that want to enhance their sport through weight resistance. it is nice to see we are all in this together, n ... It's Week Four Already!

It has been a great four weeks.  Last week Matt did an "unofficial" measuring and weighing because he thought he saw a "metamorphosis" taking place.  He was so excited to see the BEAT program working it's magic.  Chris has lost 6 pounds and me, i've lost 7!  But the even bigger news is in three weeks I lost 5 1/2 inches off of my waist and an additional 4 everywhere else.  Chris has gained almost an inch in his chest and arms, which is why he looks broader in the shoulder.  His tummy is also starting to shrink and have definition and he has also lost an inch there as well.  It has not been easy, but it is so worth the time spend to eat and exercise right.

Monday begins week three of our personal training with BEAT.  We are really starting to notice a difference.  Chris has lost another 2 pounds and the other day I was rushing around and looking for something to wear.  I grabbed a pair of pants I knew would not fit and low and behold they did- and even a little loose.  Three weeks ago, I could not even get them buttoned.

We are also starting to enjoy not feeling so stuffed all the time because we are eating smaller meals more often.

It was funny the other day, Chris was doing his first warm up exercise.  He was outside behind the Voice of America Center pulling a flat piece of metal with weights on it, attached to a strap.  He had to run up the parking lot like Rocky in Siberia training to fight Drago in Rocky 3.  As he was huffing and puffing to pull this piece of equipment, two little old ladies (my Mom and Aunt Delores wannabees) stopped their car ... Wow, we survived our first week of personal training.  Chris is starting to look so buff, that I have been asking him to walk around the house wearing one of those t-shirts like you see on COPS!  Even the woman at the bank was flirting with him yesterday...whatever!

Really we are starting to notice a difference in our body composition.  I know I feel leaner and a little taller!!!

Here is a tip from Brian Dzubinski, head trainer and owner of the Florence BEAT location on U.S. Highway 42 in the Gunpowder Center (get it "gun!"), on getting in more water.  If it is hard to drink half your weight in pure water, start slow with Propel or those Crystal LIght packets, until you can go whole-hog with pure H20.  I have not had a soda pop in 2 weeks and I am less jittery, scatter-brained and far less controlling, (well I think so anyway!)

We are both sore today, but have survived day one!!  We are eating right and following the BEAT program.  We got a call from trainer Matt Naegel to make sure we were okay and also a personal note from Dr. Baker of BEAT with some nice words of encouragement.  Today I go back to work out for an hour, so it is finite!  Why don't you check out BEAT's website and go in for a personal consultation.  You'll be looking great for the summer, but more importantly,  feeling great and getting healthy.

Tomorrow  I will post Matt's pancake recipe.   They are awesome, but for whatever reason (probably because I can't cook!) they aren't turning out right.  He made us some, so i know how they are supposed to taste and look!

Chris and I have started a 12 week commitment to tone up our middle age flabby bodies with Beat personal training. BEAT took pictures of us (pre-workout) and we are not ready for Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition anytime soon!  We know this will not be easy, but we are willing to change our eating habits and exercise for some BUFF stuff to strut on the  beach!  Seriously, in the past week we have learned so much about nutrition and exercise and we have very modest goals.  Chris to lose a pants size and some weight and me weight and better looking legs and toning up the turkey waddle under my arms! It is so fascinating and the great trainers at BEAT care about us as individuals with a plan specifically for us.  In the coming days, i will be telling you about the exercise program.  Today we began with the human powered "treadmill," or as our trainer Matt Naegle named it, the "dreadmill!"

We have also been ea ... Read More »
